Pilot kicks off with a trip to Ghana
Pilot Program 1 is a focused 12-month initiative designed to strengthen health knowledge, support educational stability, and create future opportunities for students in rural Ghana.
The program will serve approximately 50 students across three partner schools, combining monthly health education clinics, school fee scholarships, and mentorship opportunities that introduce students to careers in healthcare.
Health education sessions, led by local healthcare professionals, will teach practical topics such as nutrition, hygiene, illness prevention, and mental health—helping students and their families apply simple habits that improve everyday health.
Students who demonstrate commitment to the program and financial need will be eligible for one year of school fee support, helping reduce barriers that often interrupt education.
In addition, the program will complete service projects at partner schools, such as improving desks or classroom infrastructure, and will begin exploring pathways for future medical internships for interested students.
This pilot is intentionally small and measurable. Its purpose is to test a model that connects health, education, and opportunity, allowing the Ghana Medical Foundation to refine and expand programs that empower students to improve their lives and eventually serve their own communities.
